Wednesday Wisdom - The Bliss Beyond Judgment

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, February 01, 2012

‘What if everything you have been judging about you is everything that is wonderful about you?’  Dr Dain Heer

I have just been to 9 days of the Access Consciousness Beyonds classes.  On day 4, Gary Douglas asked us ‘what is different for you so far?’  What I saw for myself was that for the first time ever, there was no wrongness in my universe… I was at total peace with everything… there were things I could choose to change… or I could just be at peace with them.  There was no judgment of me in my universe!

Just a sense of gratitude and space for all that I was able to be right now… whilst still knowing how much more could be possible if I am willing to choose it.  WOW – what a phenomenal space to be in!

There were so many spaces where I saw that I had made myself wrong when actually those were the very things that make me the delicious decadent ME that I be!  Once I gave up the judgment and wrongness, all that was left was joy, bliss and a sense of possibility that continues to expand!  How does it get better than that???

Would you be willing to give up all judgment of you?  Forever?  What if nothing is ever truly wrong… or right?  What if you could be in allowance of all of it?  How much freedom could you have?  Bliss is just a choice :)

I adore you all... would you be willing to be kind to you?

Wednesday Wisdom - The Uncomfortable Edge of the Unknown

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, December 21, 2011

I have come back from 9 days of Access Consciousness classes (and no... in case you were wondering, there was no naked bike-riding - that's a different sort of uncomfortable!)  It seems like I have a totally new reality!  Each time I go to class I get sooooo excited as I see the many possibilities that were never available to me previously - mostly because I was stuck in some gluggy quagmire of limited points of view that were almost never even mine to start with!!

If I always choose more, no matter what I have already achieved, my life becomes immeasurably expansive – there is just so much more space and so much more awareness available as I allow the flood-gates of being unlimited to open even further… yes Bliss peeps, there it is… that scary word:  unlimited.

One of the energies being more unlimited has led me to explore is that of being uncomfortable.  As I demand more and greater possibilities, far beyond what I have ever chosen before, I am often sitting in the unknown and unexplored…

This sometimes brings a sense of being uncomfortable, mostly because I am no longer operating from the assumptions, habits and reference points I used to consider were me!   I am functioning from a space outside of the known ‘me’!!

If you think about what that could be like for a moment, you’ll know why I appear a little dazed and confused some days!  It’s a case of: “Who am I? What grand and glorious adventures can I have and receive today…?” rather than ‘this is who I am and this is what I must do to fit into the box everyone expects me to sit in for the next 500 million years…’  hmmmm… no thanks!!

That box is a comfort zone that only ever leads to a slow and infinitely boring death, one stuck, struggle-filled moment at a time!  So, maybe this living on the creative edge idea has something going for it!!  Even if it is uncomfortable...

Have you ever considered what it would be like to simply be present with being uncomfortable? I know this sounds quite weird - it is a new discovery for me too…  but one that has allowed me to see, for the first time ever, that uncomfortable does not have to equate to bad or something being wrong… intensity does not have to equate to overwhelm…  there is actually a lightness and spaciousness as I be totally present with the energy that is there.

Simply sitting with those energies and being present with them takes my awareness to a whole new space where being uncomfortable can actually show up as a knowing and receiving of what else could be possible!

So I invite you to join me in an exploration of uncomfortable… there is so much change showing up in our world… maybe it’s time to invite that change to create and generate something phenomenal rather than something that diminishes who we truly be??

Play with it... and see if you can discover for yourself how magical it is -  when we are willing to be uncomfortable, an ease shows up that we were previously rejecting! Strange but true!!  I have been a little surprised to see all of the ease and joy I have been rejecting because I wasn't willing to have uncomfortable - oops!! Sometimes I'm cute but not so bright!

So here’s a question you could ask next time you are feeling a little on the ‘un’ side of comfortable:  “What possibility am I aware of that I am not choosing?”  When you sense what else is possible, you just might be willing to embrace uncomfortable…

I adore you all...have fun playing with this one!  Did you notice that the naked bike riders were smiling?  Maybe uncomfortable isn't what we think!!

And do let me know what you discover as you play... I'm curious!

PS I will be facilitating some uncomfortably amazing Access classes in 2012... do let me know if you'd like to know more!

Wednesday Wisdom - Getting Real

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, October 05, 2011

“I’d like what she’s having” is a common response when we see something we desire to have for ourselves reflected in another.  What happens next is interesting… some of us go on to ask “What choice am I not making here that would give me everything I desire?” and then joyfully make the choice to change or create whatever is required.

Many more of us expect the person with the ‘thing’ we desire to deliver it to us in 10 seconds or less on a silver platter without changing anything inside of us, and preferably without charging us anything either!  I’ve started to see this as a fantasy… or maybe an insanity!!  The sparrow does not expect to wake up tomorrow as a peacock!

We don’t stop to look at what it took for this person to be or have this energy we so desire… we don’t stop to consider that their ‘overnight success’ may have taken lifetimes to create… we don’t stop to consider that we might just have to get real with ourselves and really look at what we are being or contributing (or not!) which would allow this magic to show up for us in our individual way!

Personally I find the bliss is in the journey… it’s in the moments of discovery where you see something you’ve never seen before… it’s in the sweet spots where you get to rest and relax into the vista before climbing the next hill… it’s in the moments of satisfaction where you know you just wouldn’t be here if you didn’t make those choices that made little sense at the time but felt ‘oh so right’… it’s in the sense of self you cultivate that nothing and no-one can ever take from you… this gentle unfurling of our peacock feathers offers us an irreplaceable wisdom.

When we give ourselves recognition for our journey we unleash an inner joy in ‘doing what it takes’ that no silver platter could ever deliver.

Giving up the fantasies and insanities and instead choosing to ‘do what it takes’ mostly means we need to BE it first.  We need to get real with ourselves and BE the essence of what we desire.  Funny how easily it shows up when we BE!

What can we choose to BE that would deliver all of this (and then some!!) with ease, joy and abundance?

Wednesday Wisdom - Falling In Love With YOU

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Yesterday I was talking with a beautiful friend and she was sharing with me how she has been learning to fall in love with herself and how deeply magical and transforming that process has been for her.

Mostly we yearn for intimacy on the outside of us, never dreaming that what we most desire is truly available within... I continue to learn that everything I desire is actually available inside of me... if I am willing to BE it, own it and choose it!

I hope you discover some deliciously joyful insights in this video that allow you to have the intimacy and connection you most truly desire...

Sending you blissbombs of gratitude for all you BE

Wednesday Wisdom - Undoing Fantasy Realities

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, July 20, 2011
Do you realise there is a difference between a fantasy and creating a possibility you truly desire to see in the world?  This short video with Dr Dain Heer gifts you a great tool for not getting stuck in fantasy realities when you would really like to be creating something totally different!

What would you be willing to see about the possibilities and potentials before you that is not a fantasy that could totally change your life if you would choose to have it?

A couple of weeks ago I had the gift of 4 days with Gary Douglas, Founder of Access Consciousness and wow, did I have my fantasy world rearranged!  I'm so not looking to build castles in the air anymore - it's exhausting!!

Instead I'm looking for the playful creative energy that already exists that allows me to create the changes I wish to see in the world... and that is a totally different feeling to wishing and hoping for something that has no energetic base... that is just a figment of my imagination... we value imagination but what if following the energy of what is possible can actually deliver something much greater than we can imagine?

And you know what else?  When we stop following fantasies and start following the energy of possibilities, all of a sudden there is a whole lot less that is required of us, there is a whole lot more ease and joy and amazing stuff just shows up without us even trying... so how does it get better than that?  Would you be willing to find out??

After all, bliss is simply the energies of love, lightness and joy... so would you like more of that in your life?  It's just a choice to have more consciousness about what you are creating :)

Wednesday Wisdom - Close The Windows

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Guest blog post by Sally Collings - Author of 'Parenting With Soul'

When you’re hammering to hit a deadline or drowning in a sea of emails, text messages and phone messages, the idea of a retreat can be pretty delicious.

An escape from the day-to-day frenzy; peace; silence; space – is that every busy person’s dream? Maybe not the sitting cross-legged on wooden floorboards thing, it all depends what you’re into.

But have you ever considered that a retreat is not just a luxury, and even more enticingly that it’s something you might be able to build into your day without needing to pack your suitcases?

Our senses are our windows to the outside world, says Thich Nhat Hanh in his book The Sun My Heart. (If you don’t know Nhat Hahn’s work already, check it out: he’s a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, teacher, author, poet and peace activist now based in France. His writing is gorgeously simple and simply profound.)

We are what we feel and perceive, suggests Thich Nhat Hanh. ‘If we are angry, we are the anger. If we are in love, we are the love. If we look at a snowy mountain peak, we are the mountain.’

Many of us leave our windows open all the time, allowing every sensation to blow through. We allow the world to invade and penetrate us. If we watch a movie full of aggression and violence, we become the movie, even for a moment. If we keep attuned to the endless stream of celebrity preening and discontent from the daily gossip columns, we are that stream – briefly.

Sometimes we need to close the windows. We can do that by finding people and places that contribute to our sense of peace and happiness. These things are small and often incidental and all around us: the scent of a forest, time spent one-on-one with a good friend, a meal prepared with love, an excellent book. It does take awareness to fully appreciate these things, and a practice like meditation can deepen that.

When we close the window, light the fire and curl up in our favourite chair, that is our mini retreat. We don’t need to keep all of the windows shut all the time. Open your windows to the miracles, but find the times when you need to flick the latch and restore some stillness in your day.

Wednesday Wisdom - Words On The Page

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, June 01, 2011

My Facebook friends have seen my recent obsession with getting words on the page.  I have less than 20,000 words left to write for my new book The Mojo of Flow (launching in July!) and I am often posting on Facebook when I’m writing because I love the conversations that develop around different topics!

In writing this book, it's been interesting to see where my thinking has been influenced, and how intensely words can contribute to our lives.  As a child I spent immeasureable joyful hours reading and became both a prolific reader and a fairly competent writer as a result.  I have kept these habits as I have grown up and still love to get my hands on a good book, disappearing off deep into other realities.

This week I have started playing with another new project (still top secret!!) and was making a list of the many books I would consider essential if I had the perfect library.  I love books almost as much as I love chocolate and have read thousands.  I thought I’d share a few of my life-changing favourites with you!

When I was 16 my Auntie Anne gave me a hardcover copy of Kahlil Gibran’s ‘The Prophet’ – I still have that book. There have been many moments when I have been grateful for its beauty and wisdom!

There are two books that had a huge impact when I had burnout:  ‘The Highly Sensitive Person’ by Dr Elaine Aron – mostly because I didn’t know I was one and when I read it my entire life made sense for the first time!  ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron also had a huge impact because I was a recovering workaholic and creativity was my new drug of choice!

I couldn’t think of a single title from either of my university degrees that had a significant impact, but can definitely say that Seth Godin’s ‘Tribes’, Jason Fried’s ‘Rework’ and Michael Bungay Stanier’s ‘Do More Great Work’ have made significant differences to my businesses.

The self-development field is vast and I have been reading books in this genre since I was 14. Some of the classics created change for me but I always knew there must be more. The books from Access Consciousness opened up whole new universes of change and possibilities with an ease I had never imagined!  Hard to choose favourites here, but ‘You Are Magic. Be It.’, ‘Right Riches For You’ and the novel ‘The Place’ have all allowed me to be way more of me! I used to think money would give me this freedom, but really I just needed to rediscover the joys of being me!

What are your favourite books and why?

Wednesday Wisdom – Bounce Back Ability

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, May 04, 2011

I love bamboo - it reminds me of all that is good about resilience!
No matter how hard those bamboo stalks are bent, they can still spring back into shape!  Resilience is a journey we all go on after times of challenge.  The events of the last 10 months have left my body at less than optimum capacity and whilst I am aware of this and I manage my energy daily, occasionally I still have a hiccup!

Yesterday I spent a full day at speaker training and came home totally exhausted, not because I was doing anything much (listening mostly) but because I pushed my body beyond its current capabilities… a long day surrounded by lots of people in a cold room is clearly more than my body can cope with at the moment!  (And this is no reflection on the event or the wonderful people I was with, simply where my body was at on that day!)

So I came home, ate a warm dinner cooked by someone else (how did I get so lucky??), watched Masterchef, had a delicious long hot shower and went to bed where I promptly slept for 11 hours playing regenerative energy based meditations while I slept.  And I’ve woken up feeling 1000% better, but knowing I need to take it easy today.

There was a time in my life when, had I woken up feeling good, I would have jumped right back in, leaving little time for my body to build further resilience. Not anymore :-)  I value my health too highly and it is my current priority to build up reserves of physical and emotional resilience so that little can weigh me down!

This bounce back ability is within all of us, but sometimes we forget to tap into our inner knowing.  I have experimented with several hundred different tools for bouncing back over the past three years.

There is probably at least 100 things that I know can make me feel better quickly and whenever I am not feeling at my best, I am quick to put the tools that feel rewarding in that moment into action. I don’t have a ‘formula’ for bouncing back, but I do have a set of questions I ask myself:
  • What physical symptoms are showing up here?
  • Who do these symptoms belong to?  Can I return them to sender?
  • How am I feeling within myself?  Light or heavy?
  • Has anything triggered this that needs addressing?
  • What would be the fastest path to feeling more alive right now?
  • What do I need to put in place for the next couple of days to fully bounce back?
  • What else can I add to my life?
  • What can I remove from my life?
Once I’ve had a look at the energy associated with all of these questions, I choose a course of action (or sometimes inaction – rest is a wonderful thing!) and look for the possibilities for feeling regenerated.  As a result, my dips are smaller and faster than they ever used to be and I can traverse life knowing that my bounce-back ability is never far away.

How often do you make yourself the priority?  Or are you always putting your own physical and psychological needs last?  Are you willing to truly give yourself the gift of nurturing and caring that will give you this same bounce back ability?

If you would like more bounce-back ability, join us on Monday nights for nurturing Bliss Essence teleconversations!

Wednesday Wisdom - It's Perfect

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I often look back at my life in awe.  All those jobs that I really didn’t enjoy provided me with the perfect mix of skills and experiences for creating the joyful businesses I now have the pleasure of playing with!

When I really delve into it, I can see exactly why every single one of those experiences happened how it did.  Through my choice, and for my ultimate benefit (even though it definitely didn’t feel like it at the time!)

And now, as I’m going through a personal situation I am finding quite challenging at times, I am discovering a peace with it. This morning for the first time I saw it was possible to have this same internal knowing that whatever it looks like on the surface, and whatever happens, ultimately it will be perfect!

And so it is with all of the ‘negative’ experiences we choose… they hold us up, spin us out, create havoc and ultimately show us different possibilities which could never arise if we didn’t start to look at what else is possible amongst the chaos we sometimes find ourselves in.

So today, I have much gratitude that everything is in perfect order… and I’m willing to choose even more ease, joy, bliss and abundance in my living than I’ve ever had before!

Please know I’m not saying that we should lie down and take everything that drops into our life without question… there’s always choice! So, on those ‘not-so-perfect’ but ultimately absolutely perfect days, here’s a question you can ask to start changing the energy into something closer to what you desire:

What energy, space and consciousness can I contribute to my living today and in the future that will generate, create, and institute more than I imagine possible?

You don’t have to answer it, just be willing to follow your own knowing about what’s required to create a blissful change, within you or externally!

What will you do today to choose bliss, despite what your external reality is displaying?

Wednesday Wisdom - Nobody Notices

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, March 23, 2011

Now you've never thought that before have you? (He he he)  Everyday?  Or about a hundred times a day?

And I'm absolutely sure you've never been tempted to stop doing all those small things that make life more joyful for everyone else around you!

If you are having one of these moments, consider what you could stop doing, that nobody would notice.  With the time you save, show your appreciation to someone else for their 'unnoticed contributions' to the bliss and joy around you...

We all do so many small things that never have a moment of gratitude attached, how much simple joy could we create around us just by noticing the unnoticed?

(A little while ago, the load of unappreciation was so high I stopped doing everything but the essentials... and when that didn't change anything I made a new choice for my entire life! Little changes can lead to big choices! Happy now!)

Comment Bliss - What else is possible?
What small BIG thing would you be willing to change to have more bliss in your life?  Share your blissalicious insights below please!

Joy joy joy.... bliss bliss bliss... that is the essence of me (and YOU!)
