Lisa Murray - Saturday, April 23, 2011

Love love love this interview with Tim Bothams, phenomenal sustainable farming expert and nurturer of our beautiful earth... (and conscious man who follows his bliss!) please listen in honour of Earth Day!  What if you could gift to the earth just by being happy?

And what if we could be more aware of our food choices... love my local farmers market too!
Would you be willing to be more conscious in your choices for you and the earth?  We can all contribute, wherever and whenever we choose!

Choose bliss...

Lisa Murray - Tuesday, April 05, 2011
This weeks Tuesday Treat comes from our first ever Bliss Lounge event where we had conversations around 25 unconventional questions relating to creativity.  Conversations create aha moments in our lives... what are you willing to discover today?

Here's three of the best creativity questions for you to play with in your most deep and meaningless (but really fun!) conversations this week...  What else can you creatively include in your life that will enhance your experience of bliss?

Download your creativity questions here!

If you have any questions about living creatively, post them in the comments section below and I'll share some ideas in future posts...

Monday Muse - Being Authentic

Lisa Murray - Monday, March 28, 2011

‘What are the simple things we can do to be more authentic in our day?’ an innocent question on Twitter from @RobinDickinson. “Express ourselves with integrity rather than fitting in with the expectations of others, breathe into our heart and just BE!” I tweeted back, knowing in my heart that the question deserves way more than 140 characters in response!

I was tempted to write you a list of ways to be more authentic but making a list just doesn’t feel very exploratory today! It feels like cheating.  Here’s why:

The question of BEing more authentic is connected very closely with my recent experiments around BEing and DOing which you can read about in my Facebook note and on last week's Monday MuseWhen we BE first and DO second, we will always be in authentic expression of who we truly BE.

When I put the DOing before the BEing I find myself wasting my life doing a whole lot of stuff that isn’t core to my authentic self.  (Like, how much more time can I spend reading other people’s blogs rather than writing my own? Note to self: it’s time to stop. Now!!)

In all of that exploration, I discovered something simple.  When I lavish attention on blissing up my energy in every 10 seconds, it’s a pretty good shortcut to BEing.  Anytime I am not feeling deliciously, decadently, joyfully ME, I recalibrate – quickly!

  • Where is my attention (on what’s possible, what’s improbable or what’s driving me nuts)?
  • What does my body require to be comfortable and happy?
  • What can I change in my environment that will feel luscious and inviting?
  • What can I read or listen to that will inspire me?
  • What would be fun for me right now?
I have been asking these questions as a priority – above work, my bliss-lines, cooking and cleaning… everything!  And I take immediate action when I perceive I need to change something. Not in 10 minutes - the power is NOW! Yesterday it was as simple as a few funky YouTube tunes to get me back in the bliss energy I love and adore!

When I align and surround myself with bliss energy, I am in a space where I can start to BE authentic.  Until then, I’m overwhelmed, confused and not even sure who I BE!!  When I don’t know who I BE, I can’t deliver the authenticity that is central to both of my businesses.  When I see my life like that my priorities are so simple!

BEing more authentic each day is a choice you make when you have high awareness of your energy state in any moment, and you keep your energy joyful by expressing your sense of authentic self through choosing your actions with care. It will look a little different for all of us, but you can start with…
  • Connecting with people that adore you and your passions.
  • Keeping your mind out of the gutters of life…  shine your star brightly ;-)
  • Nurturing your body. Managing your emotions.
And one more little hint:  BEing YOU is not the same as doing nothing (or saying nothing) because you are paralysed with fear.  Fear is claustrophobic.  BEing is expansive, light and joyful.

(Today's Monday Muse has been inspired by... Robin Dickinson, Andrea Hess and the many gorgeous blogs on authenticity I have read in the past couple of weeks.  Magical connecting of dots here!!)

Joy joy joy.... bliss bliss bliss... that is the essence of me (and YOU!)

How To Start Following Your Bliss TODAY.

Lisa Murray - Friday, March 19, 2010

Most people see their bliss, passion or purpose as this big thing that feels impossible to find or create.  The secret is to start with very small steps, just like a spider weaving its web!  Some of us choose a straight road, most of us choose a windy path less travelled - ever felt like you've been around in circles one time too many?  Would you like to make a different choice today?

After my third stress meltdown, (ah yes… I’ve been a slow learner – I’m living proof that anyone can have more bliss if they choose!!), one of the first steps I took during my recovery was to write down 100 things that bring me joy and happiness.

The real challenge was to commit to doing or experiencing at least one bliss-filled activity a day!  Most of us have a thousand excuses as to why we can’t… but have you ever actually asked yourself what it would take for you to experience the bliss you truly desire?  Would you be willing to nurture you?

Sometimes (mostly!) it’s just a choice.  Even on the days when I was so exhausted I could barely get out of bed, I chose to do some small thing which created more bliss in my life.  I could never have imagined the possibilities that would open up because of this small commitment that I made to myself.  Whatever situation you are in there is always more possibilities than you can imagine right now… will you take that first baby step today?

From this small well of hope has grown a phenomenal new life that is far beyond what I could have imagined back then.  There were moments when I thought it would be easier to die… how disappointed I would have been if I’d missed out on the life I’m living now!!

What makes me even more excited is knowing just how amazing my vision of a bliss-filled life can be!  So, what would it take for you to make that list right now?  Go sit somewhere that makes you happy and list out everything that adds bliss to your life…

I started with chocolate… the beach… playing with my dog… writing for pleasure… exploring new places… reading in the hammock… does that sound so difficult?

We’ll get onto the more challenging questions of bliss at work another day… for today it’s all about YOU!  (When was the last time that happened?  Can’t remember?  Good thing you’re reading this!!)  Time for you to get off the web and go play…

Tell us about your list... what happened when you wrote it?
