What bliss and joy can we contribute to our beautiful world today?

Thursday Thrival - Sorting Out Space Invaders

Lisa Murray - Thursday, May 03, 2012

One of the things that brings me a lot of bliss is having a sense of space.  Being autistic and quite sensitive (ie acutely aware of everything!!) ‘having enough space’ is a necessity for my overall wellbeing.  I simply don’t function without it.

Without a sense of space, it feels like my whole world collapses into a tiny claustrophobic box that is about to suffocate me. I lose the sense of being me. Do you know what I’m talking about?

I am also discovering my need for space becomes greater as I become more acutely aware of the thoughts, feelings and emotions of other people. So as I expand my psychic awareness of everything in the universe, I require a lot more space!

I used to be able to create space by immersing myself in a nurturing physical space such as nature or a calm dark room with no stimulation.  These tools still work, but not nearly as well as they used to!

No More Space Invaders!

A couple of weeks ago I was at an Access Consciousness™ class in a remote part of beautiful New Zealand where there was lots of space (that's a picture of the gorgeous beach at the Carrington Resort above).  And yet I still felt like I was in that tiny box! It sent me into a mini-meltdown as I couldn't stand to be near almost anyone, despite the space and beauty around me!! Truly!! How does that work?

And just yesterday some selfish and insensitive people sat right on top of me in a café that had plenty of other seating choices - it made me more than a little cranky!  I had just been for a beautiful walk in Noosa National Park and felt as big as the universe… until they and their small minds thoughtlessly invaded my space!

Being as aware as I am, space invasion mostly feels like a daily occurrence to me. (Quietly hides under covers in dark bedroom while wanting to scream...)

So what could change this?

We identify this need for space as physical, emotional or mental and we usually go searching for solutions in those areas, often with little success.

After the mini-meltdown in New Zealand I discovered (thanks to the magical Dr Dain Heer) that if I ask ‘How much space can I occupy?’ and then ‘How much MORE space can I occupy?’ at least 10 times or so, the energy will lighten up and I will feel a lot less like my space is being invaded and a lot more like ME!

Dr Dain explained that anywhere that I feel like my space is contracted is where I have made my energy as small as the people I am around.  Oops! That would be me being cute but somewhat insane!!

Now that I am aware that my universe is a whole lot bigger than most people’s, I am much more able to be around people without feeling tiny and insignificant and squashed and suffocated!  You see, none of that contraction is actually mine… a quick return to sender is definitely in order!! And conscious awareness of bliss becomes mine once more!

What else is possible?

Wednesday Wisdom - Bliss is Nurturing

Lisa Murray - Wednesday, April 04, 2012

Over the past few years I have slowly learned to be a whole lot kinder to myself.  Instead of making myself wrong for everything, beating myself up for what I haven't done or berating myself for what I should have done but didn't, I've been discovering what it could be to be kind and nurturing to me.  And truly - it has been quite a trip!  I had no idea I was so unkind... to me!

To change this requires a level of vulnerability that we rarely gift ourselves with.   To be kind and nurturing to ourselves, we have to connect with who we truly be.  And that being is a beautiful, vulnerable, aware bundle of energy who is always doing the best they know how.

But mostly we don't want to believe that... we want to believe we are some f***ed up insane idiot that doesn't have a clue.  I'm here to tell you - that could not possibly true... you would not have found yourself reading this if it was...

When we get really vulnerable with ourselves we become willing to look at all of us... even the bits we have kept hidden because we thought they were just far too wrong for anyone to see, including us.  Oops! Lately I've been playing with discovering some more of the 'hidden bits'... and I've seen over and over that underneath everything there is just joy, ease and peace... the building blocks of bliss!

What if we could just be with what is? With no point of view?  Just you, being you... without any judgment... without buying anyone elses interesting point of view about who you are or who you should be... Would that create something totally different in your universe?  Go play just for a day or two... and let us know what shows up for you!

Thursday Thrival - The Joy in Beauty

Lisa Murray - Thursday, March 29, 2012

Have you ever wondered how to bring more joy into your living?

One thing I know about myself is how much joy I receive from being surrounded by beauty and elegance.  It offers a sense of peace and calm.. like a mesmerizing oasis in the midst  of a crazy world where so much ugliness is created when we are unaware of what else is possible.

Some days I love to create beauty, some days I simply be beauty.  What if we could all know how beautiful we truly be?

I love the unexpectedness of the beauty we find in nature...an eagle soaring overhead as I fly down the highway, the total stillness of the forest as I walk in full presence along the coastline... the happy buzziness of dragonflies and bumblebees as they create their own brand of magic in each moment.

Immersing ourselves in beauty is a treat too... have you noticed how a well-designed building can make you feel good?  How a beautiful painting expands your possibilities?  How fresh flowers can add a certain something to your office?  Or how a great massage creates a sense of space and joy in your universe?

What if you could immerse yourself in whatever is beautiful for you?  Would your world change at all?  Beauty is a contribution to us in every moment... if we will receive it!

Friday Frolic - Happy For No Reason

Lisa Murray - Friday, March 23, 2012

I'm happy about nothing a lot.  A LOT!  And really, that just makes me happier... even when I've got stuff I could be unhappy about (and who doesn't??) I'm pretty much happy... how does it get even better than that??

If you are wondering how this could be, its simple... I choose happy!  I've tried the other options... they didn't really work for me!!  So I just keep choosing happy. Even when it doesn't feel like I can...

Now, sometimes that looks like finding the darkest humour in some crazy situation... and sometimes it is the lightest of lightness of just being... it doesn't matter... it's still a form of happy and I never judge where happy comes from!!

In choosing happy, a lot more happy comes my way... would you be willing to choose happy, no matter what?  For absolutely no reason except that you can?  I wonder what could change in your world if you did?

If you start choosing happy you might find that you are present with a whole new set of possibilities... rather than the list of impossibilities that are making you unhappy!

You might also find that people want to play with you a whole lot more... instead of wondering what the hell it would take for you to be happy just once!  And you could discover that being happy is fun... and easier by far than being unhappy!  Have you ever noticed that happy people seem to have a whole lot more energy and zing?  There's a reason for that!!

When we have been unhappy for a while it sometimes feels a little weird to just start choosing happy.  What does that feel like again?  Happy?  I remember happy... (I do?? Really?) Yes... you really do, even if it doesn't feel like it in this ten seconds!

Look for your happy in spontaneous moments ...like unexpectedly finding Lindt chocolate in your laptop bag late at night ... or teaching the dog to dance (not so successful... but very funny!) ... or running into a favourite friend when you really need to see someone who just loves you for you... wow... it's all just happy!

Or you could find your happy through gratitude... everytime I hear friends talk about their corporate jobs I find my happy very quickly!  No longer working for power-obsessed, politically motivated, unaware idiots is something I truly am grateful for - every single day (and it's been over 4 years since I escaped the lunatic asylum!!!)

And of course I find my happy in my work - I truly do love my work... and I love what I can contribute to this world through my work... and that creates a whole lot of happy in my universe! (Have you got my free Love Your Work e-coaching yet?  It's designed to create happy too!!)

And of course, you can just make people think you are really really really weird by being happy just because you can... no other reason... in fact no reason at all. (Funnily enough, doing this actually makes me happy too... I receive a strange pleasure in BEing totally different to what people expect!)  Happy about nothing is literally the simplest and fastest way to get happy - it's just a choice!!

So you see... happy can be anywhere... and everywhere!  What would it take for you to choose it?

(Yep, it's a Pollyanna moment... a long happy one... that pretty much never needs to end... unless you choose unhappy!) How do you keep your happy intact?  I would love to know!

New Energies of Business - Presence

Lisa Murray - Sunday, October 16, 2011

I love observing the subtleties of my life, where themes bubble and pop up from out of nowhere, merging into a stream of consciousness that deliver the often not so subtle 'aha' moment I have been looking for.  Over the past few weeks the theme of 'presence' has been emerging - presence with myself, being present with others, and having lots of that indefinable quality called presence.

This started with a few snippets of insight where we discovered that having presence is core to successfully engaging with the New Energies of BusinessTM.  Once we introduced this topic for our upcoming events on Nov 10th and Feb 6th, experiences relating to developing presence have been everywhere!  Yep, when we ask the universe truly does deliver!

A couple of weeks ago, to my great surprise,  I sang solo in public for the first time ever.  I was just following the energy of joy by going to a Right Voice For You class with my friend Delany.  I figured I would get some speaking practice in!! Well, she cooked me good and proper - within minutes of arriving she had me singing (not one of my stronger talents and abilities... no public encores planned anytime soon ;)

On my second round of singing (which was a lot better than the first!) my audience were very encouraging.  On the inside I was quite disillusioned though... and I shared this, saying 'but I had no presence'.  Well!! Apparently that was not true from the audience's perspective... so I got to see a whole new side to presence... I had misidentified and misapplied it as some sort of loud high vibey energy, instead of the quiet potency it can truly be!

Adding this insight to the wonderful things I learned about stillness and presenting at Simone de Haas' recent Act of Speaking workshop has created a whole new space for me to explore the wonders of presence in... a very magical experience all round!

Just yesterday I did a presentation for a wonderful group of women from the Australian Association of Professional Organisers... over lunch I was expressing how much joy I receive from being very present with my audience and talking to their needs and desires from just a few dot points which seem to have their own way of creating a presentation that is relevant and engaging, rather than trotting out the same old speech every time as many speakers do.  I am so grateful to one of the ladies who pointed out that presenting is all about being present, but delivering a speech is just that - and never do the two truly ever meet.

This idea is so simple, and yet quite profound - and it made me wonder how often are we truly present with the people around us?  I know that I have a lot more presence for people when I am talking to them with my full self present (rather than being scattered all over the universe!!) and with all of my energies of joy, gratitude and contribution present... I am learning never to underestimate the power and potency of the smallest of changes... so what else is possible??

We are going to explore the topics of presence and visibility in depth at the next New Energies of Business events... if you would like to experience the astonishing difference this can bring to your business and your living, then we would love to have you come play with us!!  Bookings Essential!!
