Most people see their bliss, passion or purpose as this big thing that feels impossible to find or create. The secret is to start with very small steps, just like a spider weaving its web! Some of us choose a straight road, most of us choose a windy path less travelled - ever felt like you've been around in circles one time too many? Would you like to make a different choice today?
After my third stress meltdown, (ah yes… I’ve been a slow learner – I’m living proof that anyone can have more bliss if they choose!!), one of the first steps I took during my recovery was to write down 100 things that bring me joy and happiness.
The real challenge was to commit to doing or experiencing at least one bliss-filled activity a day! Most of us have a thousand excuses as to why we can’t… but have you ever actually asked yourself what it would take for you to experience the bliss you truly desire? Would you be willing to nurture you?
Sometimes (mostly!) it’s just a choice. Even on the days when I was so exhausted I could barely get out of bed, I chose to do some small thing which created more bliss in my life. I could never have imagined the possibilities that would open up because of this small commitment that I made to myself. Whatever situation you are in there is always more possibilities than you can imagine right now… will you take that first baby step today?
From this small well of hope has grown a phenomenal new life that is far beyond what I could have imagined back then. There were moments when I thought it would be easier to die… how disappointed I would have been if I’d missed out on the life I’m living now!!
What makes me even more excited is knowing just how amazing my vision of a bliss-filled life can be! So, what would it take for you to make that list right now? Go sit somewhere that makes you happy and list out everything that adds bliss to your life…
I started with chocolate… the beach… playing with my dog… writing for pleasure… exploring new places… reading in the hammock… does that sound so difficult?
We’ll get onto the more challenging questions of bliss at work another day… for today it’s all about YOU! (When was the last time that happened? Can’t remember? Good thing you’re reading this!!) Time for you to get off the web and go play…
Tell us about your list... what happened when you wrote it?
